The Effect
Theatre
The Satirical Theatre stages The Effect for the first time in Cyprus, a play by the British writer Lucy Prebble, directed by Evita Ioannou. Connie and Tristan take part in a clinical trial for a new antidepressant, and they fall for each other. As the drug takes hold, it becomes harder to tell whether their feelings are real or a side effect. Written in 2012 for the National Theatre in London, the play mixes lightness with serious questions about mental health and the ethics of science. The show lasts 90 minutes with no interval and is suitable for ages 16 and over, and tickets cost €13 - €16 with a reduced price for students and pensioners. Entry is free for people with mobility difficulties.
